What would happen if I responded to a scammer email?

So I got an email that was definitely some scammer trying to trick me into thinking i could get money from her. It was one of those "I'm coming from Kenya with tears in my eyes. My father was the former Kenya road minister and got in a plane crash. I found a briefcase with doents..." ones. So I'm not really interested in the money or anything, but what happens if I respond to the email?
