Can doctor tell u pregnant just from l exam?

I am late for my period i went to doctor today an said no i cant be pregnant cuz i taking the pill when asked if it possibility but it has been 4 1/2 weeks scince last period...i was diagnosed with BV. Can u still get pregnant when u have BV? and would doctor have been able to tell if i was pregnant when looking at inside of for the swab sample?
